The Munda Biddi Trail App

Use the guide to plan and ride the Munda Biddi Trail. It works everywhere, even in places without mobile phone reception or Internet access. Put your phone in airplane mode to maximise its battery life.

In addition to being a navigation aid, it’s a full guidebook on a phone, with information on places to stay, places to visit, when to ride, where to find water, and tips and best practices.

The maps show the Munda Biddi Trail and where you are when you are on the trail. Maps are marked up with huts, camping areas, towns and  points of interest. Maps are tuned for bikepackers–they have a tonne of detail including bush tracks and off-road paths, as well as contour lines.

When you are on the Munda Biddi Trail, tap any of the icons on the map to bring up these windows telling you distance from you to that hut, town,  or point of interest.

DBCA manage the Munda Biddi Trail, and in doing so, will permanently or temporarily re-route the trail. Temporary diversions are in the App under General Trail Info > Trail Closures and Diversions. Permanent trail realignments are updated on the main map as soon as DBCA lets us know about them.

The huts have water tanks, tables, covered sleeping areas, tent sites and pit toilets. All are in scenic spots. Luxury.

There are lots of accommodation options along the trail. The App lists many of these, with a focus on the places outside of towns, and those that are close to the trail.

The GPS on your phone will show your location (blue dot). Pinch and zoom the graph to show the elevation profile for the day’s ride. See distances between towns and huts.
